Lee Valley 1:29 Basingstoke

Both teams were missing players for this game as Basingstokes 18’s were playing away so the normal ones that play up were otherwise utilised due to illness work commitments and suspension.

Still, it turned out to be a fascinating game. Lee Valley took an early lead when Samuel Awoyemi scored from #33 Nathaniel Gleed and #4 Ethan Bellevue timed at 1.22. The game then started to settle down and play was even until Basingstoke #7 Jack Reddin received a 2 minute penalty for high sticks at 6.22 which the team handled with no issue. Then 4 mins after Reddin returned to the ice, Captain Wilson scored backhanded, assisted by #15 Josh Richards and #16 assistant Captain Paul Petts.

At the restart, Junior Bison #8 Chris Hocquigny made the Lee Valley netminder work hard to stop him doubling the Basingstoke score. #33 Jordan Lawday, sponsored by FTL Solutions, was as busy at the other end making saves from Lee Valley. As a result of one of these stops, with the face off in the Bison end, Basingstoke's Wilson visited the sin bin for Roughing and Slashing respectively. With no further goals or penalties, the period ended with a bizarre incident when Period score 1-1

Guildford started strong at the beginning of the second period, with Lawday making saves and batting the puck from mid air to clear then Basingstoke's #4 Kyle Goddard went to work moving Guildford players from in front of the goal. But it was Basingstoke that scored first when spirit of the match winner #8 Chris Hocquigny scored against his former club unassisted, when Guildford's #4 Monty Gailer passed the puck from behind the net for him to one time past Caminsky.

Josh Richards nearly added another when the puck was passed from behind the Guildford net to him waiting in the slot and with the netminder already on the floor, but some how #1 Caminsky got a hand to it. Guildford put themselves under more pressure when #13 Marcus Mitchell was sent to the bin at 25.01 for slashing.

Basingstoke were unable to take further advantage despite shots from Petts, Richards,Wilson and Hocquigny. With less then 3 minutes of the period left, Guildford scored twice, first through #13 Marcus Mitchell and then #6 Haydn Wotton assisted by #16 Jared Lane and #9 Captain Chris Martin. With 13 seconds left on the clock Guildford's Marcus Hudson received 2 minutes for slashing Basingstoke's Petts. Period score 3-1ba
